European Defence Standardization Information System (EDSIS)
The EDSIS (European Defence Standardization Information System) is an online (unclassified) list of standardization works from MODs of EU member nations, subject to development and modifications, filled by national representatives (national EDSIS points of contact) and maintained by employees of the European Defence Agency (EDA). The System has been approved by the Steering Board and introduced in September 2007. It will be further developed to the point when it offers a complete portal related to defence standardization management.
As a part of the EDSIS, Poland has proposed the development of four Defence Standards from the area of water supply for forces and water purification. The project was carried out in 2009 – 2011, and it is included in the EDSIS database. Two other projects are currently underway:
European Defence Standardization Reference System (EDSTAR)
The EDSTAR (European Defence Standardization Reference System) database holds European defence standardization documents from 219 thematic fields according to the Best Practice Model. It is a supporting tool for defence procurement, but also for defence industry representatives. The database contains only unclassified documents.
The EDSTAR database is a continuation (since 01July2011) of the European Handbook for Defence Procurement (EHDP). Its content is updated twice a year (in March and September). Currently, the EDSTAR contains 14 Polish standardization documents (13 Defence Standards - NO and 1 Polish Standard - PN-V).
